katy chan- self taught photographer.

This woman is an inspiration to everyone who has ever held a camera. she has never studied photography in her life yes still churns out such art. i came across her while looking at a website called hot one ten, to be completely honest ive no idea how i even came across this website but still. so, i found an interview where she basically explains her work and what she does and i instinantly loved her style.

In the interview she says "I have a hard time telling people that I am a “photographer” because like I say I’ve never studied photography - formally. My philosophy is that anyone can take photographs and a lot of people can take nice photographs, but only half of those people can make a decent living off of it - very few can be photographic superstars".

I thought this was really honest, and although i do art and i aspire to be a photographer one day, hence why i plan to study this at university i really agree with what she says, that anyone can take a photograph but it takes skill to make a living off it.
